Jen Sincero is a serious badass. Her book, You Are A Badass, How to Stop Doubting your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life is one that I bought, but then put on my bookshelf. I would pick it up and skim through it and put it back on the shelf. I gave it as a gift several times due to the cute name, but I never finished it. I recently had a long drive to make and so I downloaded the audio version of You Are A Badass to finally finish the book. Self help books on audio has changed my life!! I can't skim or fast forward and I absorb the content more efficiently. Maybe I am really late to this game, but if you haven't tried it, give it a try.
The book is equal parts funny, calling you out on your shit and you can do it! Jen breaks down each chapter into digestible and actionable nuggets, for example:
Part 1: How You Got This Way
Chapter 1: My Subsconscious Made Me Do It
Part 2: How to Embrace Your Inner Badass
Chapter 8: What Are You Doing Here?
Part 3: Hot to Tap into the Motherlode
Chapter 16: Loosen Your Bone, Wilma
Part 4: How to Get Over Your B.S. Already
Chapter 20: Fear is for Suckers
Part 5: How to Kick Some Ass
Chapter 26: Doing vs Spewing
She also shares her badass advice like:
"When taking great leaps forward, life often turns to shit before it turns to shinola."
"You are responsible for what you say and do. You are not responsible for whether or not people freak out about it."
or one of my favorites:
"So often, we pretend we've made a decision, when what we've really done is signed up to try until it gets too uncomfortable."
Have you read it? What do you think?
